Questions with Gio Bartolomeo
From your perspective, what feels most important for the psychedelic field to get right in the next 5–10 years?
Safety and integration tools before and after experiences. Building a solid foundation for awareness and nervous system attunement.
How do psychedelics intersect with your work, and what feels most misunderstood from where you sit?
I’m a huge fan and have used them myself extensively. They can be abused, and some people still see them simply as drugs. They are powerful tools that need to be used with intention and care.
What do you think practitioners today most need to cultivate in themselves—not just learn intellectually—in order to work responsibly with these tools?
Their own lived experiences, both during use and outside of it. It’s also essential to understand their role as a provider and space holder.
Is there a principle, practice, or insight that has become central to how you approach healing and transformation? How did that understanding develop for you?
It’s all about self-awareness. Understanding the patterns that drive your behaviors, and learning how to identify and shift them in day-to-day life. That’s where real integration happens.
What’s a question you find yourself returning to again and again in your work right now? Why is it important to you?
How can I show up better, make the teachings more accessible and easier to implement, and help people reconnect with themselves and their spirituality?
When you think about microdosing specifically, what do you see as its most responsible or promising role within the broader psychedelic ecosystem? Where does discernment matter most?
I think it’s the most accessible way to work with these tools, and potentially one of the most powerful. There are many benefits with relatively low risk when people are properly screened. Discernment comes in understanding how to use them safely and setting realistic expectations.
What excites you about contributing to this training at this moment in time?
That it’s helping people gain access to a life-changing modality with care and intention.
What drew you to contribute to Psychedelic Coaching Institute’s training programs overall?
Connecting with Paul.
